Why hire an interior designer?
There are so many reasons to hire an interior designer. Whether it’s a full home renovation you’re needing, a smaller refurbishment, furniture purchasing, new flooring, window furnishings or interior design consulting, an interior designer is the expert you can rely upon. Our interior designers are professionally trained to enhance the aesthetic of your home or workspace and design each space with purpose, skill and heart.
We carefully and diligently establish the brief with you to ensure there is a shared vision and at the end of your project you are delighted with the results. It is important to us that your home or workspace reflects who you are and that the process along the way has been enlightening and enjoyable. We take the guesswork, time and stress out of the myriad of choices available and present choices we know will work beautifully in your space.
Your interior designer can also plan, research, coordinate and manage your project from start to finish.
Can I be involved in the process?
Yes. We have clients who love to be involved in the process and others who prefer very little involvement. The design concept development phase can involve regular consultations with you or we can present the design concept and selection options to you in more of a “reveal” style. Either way, you do not need to commit to the final design concept until you are 100% happy with it.
Can the interior designer work with the style of my home?
Absolutely. Our interior designers are well versed in styling a range of period, mid-century and newly built homes. We pay attention to the age and architectural features of each home and also how you, the client wishes the home to look, feel and function. A great design will capture the essence of the home and ensure the result is well resolved and harmonious.
Where do you source your furniture from?
The VM Style Group has developed relationships with a large number of suppliers and retailers throughout Melbourne. We have access to suppliers who are not direct to public, which increases the scope of furnishings we have to select from and can create a look that is uniquely yours. We also work with local manufacturers and artists and are able to have furniture pieces custom made and original artwork commissioned.
Can I purchase only a few items?
Every space is different and we understand our clients may only require a few pieces to complete their home or workplace. The extent of interior design consulting and furniture required varies from project to project. We are happy to assist with partial designs. Please enquire with us to discuss your needs.


Can my interior designer assist me in my selection of paint colours, window treatments and floor coverings?
Yes. Our interior designers are professionally trained and have years of experience selecting fixtures and finishes for our clients. It is a great idea if you are updating areas such as walls, windows and flooring to discuss the options with us as these decisions can impact furniture and artwork selections and the overall aesthetic of your home or business.
Can I view furniture, artwork and accessories before they are purchased?
Yes. Our interior designers are available for showroom visits so you are able to see and feel items in person before they are purchased. Before ordering key pieces such as couches or armchairs, we strongly recommend our clients sit on and are comfortable with the pieces they are purchasing. If a particular item such as an artwork piece or lamp is not available for viewing, due to it being from an interstate supplier or out of stock, we will source images for you and where possible an item of a similar style, material and finish (ideally from same range) to provide you with an accurate look and feel of the piece.
How long does it take for my pieces to arrive?
We aim to have all your pieces delivered to you in the shortest time possible. Lead times can vary depending on supplier location, stock levels, logistics and whether your item has been custom made or commissioned rather than purchased from stock. We will provide you with options for delivery and will continue to track your items and update you of all estimated dates of arrival. If you are unable or would prefer not to take multiple deliveries, we are able to store your items until they have all arrived and we can then coordinate the best delivery time for you and your project.
